Thrifted Kaftan

Today I am wearing a thrifted Kaftan---the pattern is interesting and different (see picture!) Since it is getting colder outside, I also broke out my knee high boots and leggings…I know I don't look like I am dressed very warm but it get's so hot at work that I underdress so I am not sweating at work all day!!! Last week I went to a Free People sample sale and got this top, I paired it up with my tan booties and my navy jeggings. I also made this headband---from leftover fabric on a top! I like the turban/gypsy headband look and they are SO easy to make---maybe I will show you all how ;)

Bought this, what I call, "Dolly Dress" about 3 years ago! I think it looks like a dress you would put on your American Girl doll! Anyways, I bought these tights at Forever 21---they are a pretty teal color, I love them! Then I have on my grey booties and my homemade headband! Have a terrific Monday, my friends!!

"Dinosaur Printed Skirt"

Recently our friend Mario asked me about a skirt that's very dear to my heart which I thought was perfect for today because I'm gonna be in a music video tonight!! woo! I'm super excited to be in it and it's a great excuse to wear an outfit that's a bit quirkier than normal. I LOVE dinosaurs, so I straight jumped on the opportunity to wear my mom's vintage 1980's dinosaur printed skirt. *rawrrr* As you know I also love prints, so to add to the chaos I paired it with a stripped tube top. God tube tops are amazing. For shoes I wore these funky black wedges my sissy dearest bought me... ; * muah thanks sis! I still am not that into accessories right now, which is strange for me, plus my outfit was already pretty intense so I kept it classy with my grandma's opal ring, and these crystal earrings that remind me of chandeliers.
Today is my last day blogging...so sad. I hope you liked my outfits and if you learn anything from my personal style please don't be afraid to mix those prints and remember to have fun with fashion! Have a stellar weekend!

"Geometric Printed Silk Dress"

Today I needed to look cute and extra profesh. Is it professional to say profesh? Well it is now! I wore a geometric printed silk dress belted with this cut out colored leather belt I bought at FIT's style shop. I threw on a black blazer, tights and brown boots that matched my belt. I kept the jewelry simple with turquoise earrings and my ruth bracelet. For hair I started braiding my bangs to one side and then just went for the gold and ended up braiding all my hair. I liked it because my hairstyle looked totally different from either side. Basically I had bipolar hair. And that was my outfit!

"Tribal Print Maxi Skirt"

Lemme just start out by saying I could not fit my whole outfit in this picture to save the life of me! Seriously I spent like 15 mins trying to. I have no idea how Em does this everyday, especially in the morning pre coffee. Props to ya sister. Anyways I love prints! Always have, always will. I love mixing them, I love them on their own, I just love them. So I am wearing a tribal print maxi skirt I recently thrifted, with a plain white tee and a jean shirt which you've probs already seen on this blog. (Emily and I bought them together and we're a little bit obsessed) For accessories I am wearing this big pink geode necklace my dad bought me! I was really impressed he picked this out because no offense to half the human population buuuttttt he's a dude. So props to Bob Duerr too! And while we are doing shout outs, props to my roommate Allyson who turned me onto this Ebay dealer that sells gold name bracelets from the 1970's. I was pretty stoked because the dealer sells like 10 different names and just so happened to have both my first and middle name. I've been rocking one pretty much everyday lately, partly because they are ghetto fab in a Carrie Bradshaw kinda way and partly because I just forget to take it off. It's kinda chilly today so I added some brown boots to bring on that extra Americana charm. And BOoooOM, there's my professional yet trendy outfit.

"Retro Safari Dress"

So I don't want you guys to think I just go to the beach everyday! I mean I did go to the beach today....and yesterday. BUT I do other things too I swear. Today for instance I went on a interview. It was still really hot out so I wanted to keep my outfit light but professional. The dress kinda reminds me of a retro safari dress with it's cargo pockets and pleated bottom, but it becomes more modern with it's shear top detail. I wanted to make it a little more young and hip so I added a Native American inspired beaded belt. Throw on some flats and you are good to go!

"Fun Parrot Print"

Hey y'all heyyy, my name is Martha and I'm affectionatly known as Emily's bff who moved west to California. So because I live on the otherside of the country, I'll be sending Em yesterday's outfits. And by yesterday I mean I took this on Friday. Shhh don't tell. Friday was hot hot hot so I booked it to the beach to get my tan on! Unfortunately, you will not be seeing me in my bathingsuit, tryna keep it PG for the kiddos. I'm wearing a playsuit that has this really fun parrot print on it, but because it's a low cut backless halter I keep it classy by wearing a bando under. People usually ask if it's vintage but I bought it on sale at Macys....for $9.99! YEA! I KNOW! My nailz already be did up in floresant orange, which added a much needed flyness to the look. And I topped it off with a big ol floppy hat that I took, I mean "borrrowed", from a party. Nothing like a day at the beach to leave me sunkissed and happy.

"Cropped Black Pants"

Hey Guyz...sooo OMG it's like FRIDAY!!..that was sarcasm hidden in excitement because it took everything I had to get out of bed this morning. But alas here I am and it's my last day here on Emily's blog. I hope you've enjoyed seeing what I'm wearing everyday, ps I woke up a whole hour earlier all week to get these pictures to Emily to post on time..minus yesterday but it was hard you guys! So here I am today, a little menswear inspired. A jean shirt buttoned all the way up underneath yet another black sweater! This black sweater is special though because it's brand new and so so comfortable. Like so comfortable I may just go back to sleep in it for a few minutes after I type this. And this old Levi's jean shirt i just love it. I bought it like three years ago at Salvation Army for super cheap and it was so so big but i JUST HAD TO HAVE IT. So i took it home and did MAJOR alterations to it and wore it and loved it many many days. Since then I've rip the sleeves of blah blah blah but I still wear it like A LOT. I also have on some cropped black pants and these shoes..how cute are these shoes?? They were also super cheap at some store that Emily and I have been obsessed with ever since. Hair is loose and back and wavy like pretty much everyday of my life since it's so hard to handle and voila THATS ME. i hope you guys liked me!! I think our WEST COAST BFF MARTHA is taking over next week so that should be fun. Have an awesome Friday and a wild weekend guys! Oh and that totally is Pete and Pete on the desktop of my computer today..how presh!?

Mornin' Guyz! Guess what? It's raining..again!! Didn't really want to get up and get dressed today but I did it for you. Put on this new camel colored sweater that's especially awesome because it has pockets! I love sweaters and I love pockets so anything that combines the two has to be mine. I jazzed it up and added a little scarf that I made in to a pocket square! The reality that it's actually going to stay in there all day isn't very likely but I love the mallards on plaid print. I got this scarf and like five others for super cheap at a market in London. Just threw on my basic black Levis and cuffed them to make them a little more girly and added black flats. The scarf around my neck, I dont think I'll actually wear it today because it's supposed to be close to 70 degrees but I thought it looked great with the outfit and it's what I would actually wear if it actually felt like mid-October outside. Okay enough dissing the weather, have a rad day everyone.

Guyzz it's seriously depressing weather outside again this morning. I tried to make things fun with my outfit today though. I know it may look like I'm wearing all black but this sweater is actually dark gray. So yea I have this awesome soft gray knit sweater that I just got recently from H&M paired with this cooool black leather skirt also from H&M. It's totally not what you'd expect from a short leather skirt, it's pretty much anything but sexy but it's definitely fun and quirky. I also finally got some new black tights because after the first cold day here I realized that I didn't have any that made it through last fall and winter without holes. Annndd my black boots again, seriously guys if anyone has some awesome suggestions for inexpensive, awesome, black boots for fall let me know! Green watch today for a pop of color, and my hair in a top knot because it's supposed to rain and it looks pretty cute. Thrifted Plaid Pleated Skirt

Hey guyz, It's a cloudy morning here in Brooklyn and after the past couple of days I'm ready for fall. I thought I would get in the mood myself with the thrifted vintage wool skirt. It's a super nice plaid pleated fabric that I think I've had for about a year now and have yet to wear. The length is longer than what I'm used to and so is the fullness on the bottom. I threw a basic thin black sweater on, and finished the look off with ankle socks and my suede boots laced up halfway and then rolled down for something new. I NEED to go fall shoe shopping!

WoooHooo---Don't I have the coolest friends?
Hey everyone! I'm Emily's friend Kate and I'll be taking over her blog for this week. My everyday style tends to be more casual and monochromatic, with a lot of layering. I'm also not too big on accessories. I have two rings that I wear every single day and two watches that I switch out everyday. So today, it's still unusually warm here in NY so I'm wearing a basic black mini (I'll admit to wearing one at least twice a week), a basic black J. Crew sweater, great for laying, and a camel-ish colored blazer given to me by Emily. This blazer has to be one of my favorite pieces for fall, it's an awesome warm color, no shoulder pads included, and is made of a lightweight fabric which is great for me since I'm on my feet most of the day running around the studio. It also has an awesome lining made specifically for rolling the sleeves up because it only goes halfway up the sleeve! I'm also wearing some black suede ankle boots and chunky ribbed socks, with the hairs pinned back in loose waves. And today i'm wearing my color blocked swatch! Hope everyone has an awesome start to their week!
